My working laptop is Precision-7520 which has the audio device "Intel Corporation CM238 HD Audio Controller" as in the "lspci" output. Searched on internet for a while and finally found a working solution.

sudo vi /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Add the following two lines at the end:

options snd-hda-intel probe_mask=1

It fixes the error shown in the output of "dmesg"

Unable to sync register 0x2f0d00. -5
